Electro-Mechanical Technician
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OR SUMMARY:
The Electro-Mechanical Technician works with and supports production team to keep company wide equipment running. This individual ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions and repairing or installing factory equipment and machinery.
Core Responsibilities:
Mechanical Tasks
• Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, motors, conveyors, gearboxes)
• Replacing or fabricating mechanical parts using hand and power tools
• Performing preventative maintenance on mechanical systems
• Diagnosing mechanical failures and determining corrective actions
• Aligning and adjusting mechanical assemblies and components
Electrical Tasks
• Installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical wiring, panels, motors, and control systems
• Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
• Testing electrical systems for continuity, voltage, and resistance
• Working with variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLCs, sensors, and relays
• Ensuring all work complies with electrical codes and safety standards
General Maintenance Duties
• Performing regular inspections and documenting maintenance work
• Coordinating with other departments (e.g., production, engineering) to minimize downtime
• Responding quickly to urgent repair requests during production
• Keeping maintenance logs and reporting equipment malfunctions
• Maintaining inventory of spare parts and tools
Safety and Compliance
• Following company and OSHA safety procedures
• Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during equipment servicing
• Participating in safety audits and continuous improvement initiatives
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or equivalent required;
- Preferred: 2-yr Associate Degree or Technical Diploma in one of the following fields: Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electro-Mechanical Technology, Electrical or Mechanical Technology, or Industrial Systems Technology.
- Good electrical, electronic and mechanical skills and capable of operating hand, power and specialized tools.
- Reading electric schematics.
- Experience troubleshooting PLCs
- Good analytical and problem‐solving skills.
- Familiar with CMMS
- Welding or Fabrication Ability.
