GENERAL DESCRIPTION OR SUMMARY:
The Controller is responsible for multiple accounting functions including: accounts payable, inventory, fixed assets, maintaining daily & monthly bank accounts & cash balances, reconciling General Ledger accounts and adhoc reporting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including but not limited to:
- month and year-end process
- accounts payable
- accounts receivable
- cash receipts
- general ledger maintenance
- treasury, budgeting
- revenue and expenditure variance analysis
- capital assets reconciliations
- inventory support
- Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow and liquidity management, ensuring the company's financial stability and adequate working capital.
- Cost Control: Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize expenses without compromising quality or service.
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.
- Coordinate and complete annual audits, working closely with external auditors to ensure a smooth and accurate audit process.
- Improve systems and procedures: Continuously assess and enhance financial systems and processes, proactively identifying areas for improvement, and initiating corrective actions to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop staff: Manage the performance of the accounting department team, set clear goals, provide ongoing training and development opportunities, and maintain strong employee relationships to foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Establish and maintain fiscal files and records: Create and maintain organized and accurate fiscal files and records to document all financial transactions, ensuring data integrity and accessibility
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATIONAL SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all level of an organization
- Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
- Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems.
